Privacy
LeNotes is a notebook. The short version is that your notes are yours: they live on your device first, they go to our server only so your other devices can see them, and the only time their contents reach anyone else is when you ask for something that needs it — and this page says exactly when that is.

What we hold, and where
Your notes. Every note is written to your browser’s own storage first, and the app works with no account at all — in that case nothing ever leaves the device. When you are signed in, notes are also stored on our database so that your phone and your laptop show the same vault. They are stored as the text you wrote; we do not index them for anything but your own search.
Pictures, recordings and files you put on a canvas or attach to a note are kept the same way: in your browser, and — signed in — in our file storage, reachable only through short-lived signed links issued to your session.
Your account. If you sign in, we keep the email address, display name and the identifier your provider gives us (Google, GitHub, or a LeDesign account). We never receive your password from those providers. A session is a signed cookie; it carries no note content.
Access tokens you create in Settings are stored hashed — we cannot read one back, which is why a new token is shown to you exactly once. Revoking a token stops it working immediately.
When note contents leave our systems
There are three, and they are all things you start.
- Asking the AI. The assistant answers about your vault, so using it sends your notes’ titles, folders and text to Google’s Vertex AI to produce that answer. If that is not acceptable for a particular vault, do not use the assistant — every other feature works without it.
- Connecting another service. Google Drive, OneDrive, Slack, GitHub and calendar feeds are off until you connect them. Once connected, the notes or files you choose to sync go to that service under your own account there, and their privacy terms apply to that copy.
- Sharing a note. A share link makes that one note readable by anyone holding the link, until you revoke it.
Nothing else sends note content anywhere. We do not sell data, we do not use your notes to train models, and there is no advertising or third-party analytics in the app.
The browser extension
LeNotes — Clip to canvas saves a page into your own vault. It is deliberately small, and this is all of it:
- It stores one thing on your machine: the LeNotes access token you paste into it, in the browser’s extension storage, together with a note of which notebook each site’s clips go to. The token never leaves your machine except to authenticate against LeNotes.
- It reads a page only on the tab whose toolbar icon you clicked, and only at that moment. The browser grants that access per click and revokes it when you leave the tab. It has no standing access to your browsing, keeps no history of pages you visit, and cannot read a page you did not ask it to.
- What it sends — the screenshot of the visible part of that tab, the text you had selected, your comment, and the page’s title and address — goes to your own LeNotes vault and nowhere else. There is no LeDesign server in the middle.
- It contains no remote code, no analytics and no trackers. Everything it runs ships inside the extension.
Removing the extension deletes the stored token. Revoking that token in LeNotes Settings stops it working immediately, from every machine at once.
Who else processes it
We use a small number of providers to run the service, and they hold data only to do that: hosting and delivery (Vercel), the database (Turso), file storage (Google Cloud Storage), and — only for the assistant, and only when you use it — Google Vertex AI. Sign-in identity comes from whichever provider you chose.
How long, and how to get rid of it
Notes stay until you delete them. Deleting a note removes it from your device and from our database; attached files it was the last to reference are swept from storage afterwards. Deleting your account removes the account record, its notes and its files.
You can take everything with you at any time: notes are Markdown files and LeNotes exports them as such, without asking us. There is no lock-in to negotiate around.
Children
LeNotes is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If what the software does changes, this page changes with it, and the date above moves. Material changes will be announced in the app rather than left here to be discovered.
